14th Feb 2008 - Day 8 Valentine’s Day

(credits & details here)

On Valentine’s Day, we had BKT brunch at a shop nearby our place and spent the rest of the day at Jusco Bukit Tinggi. We had karoake with the kids, movie, did some shopping, some fun at the kiddy rides and dinner at Dragon-I. The kids loved their fried rice and noodles. Being out the whole day worn them out. We reached home at about 10pm, bathe and slept. They were so tired, they dozed off instantly. Nothing special for the Valentine’s - we don’t celebrate anyway.

The kids performing their singing skills.

I’ve been slacking in my blog posts again. Have been feeling really tired and lazy lately. Have piled up MANY backdated posts since February. So, I’m going to try posting everything soon. I really salute blogger parents who have that kind of energy to blog everyday. For me, I’m still looking for that energy. Anyway … here goes.

11th Feb - 13th Feb 2008 - Day 5 - 7

(credits & details here)

We were invited to Genting by my cousins cos they were celebrating their daughter’s 1st birthday. Arrived at Genting at noon and we had lunch at Gohtong Jaya (braised yee mee and durian for dessert). When we arrived at the peak was almost 2pm. We walked around the place a bit and played some rides indoors. With no nap .. the kids were sure tired. We had an early dinner, rest in the room and the kids slept early. The following day, we had fun at Snow World and some kiddy rides. We checked out the next day at noon and had lunch at Gohtong Jaya. We wanted to go home after lunch but ended up at my cousin’s place for mahjong session.

9th Feb 2008 - Day 3

(credits & details here)

When we woke up, it was almost 10am. Lunch at Andrew’s house was at 1pm. We were all hungry so we went to a nearby ‘mamak’ shop to have ‘roti canai’ (malaysian flatbread). It was Boy’s 1st time taking ‘roti canai’ and he’s eating like an expert - wrapping the bread around his fingers and thumb, dipping into the sugar and putting it into his mouth. I had a video of him doing that but stupid of me to take it the other way round. Arg! And when I played it in Quicktime, the video was sideways. Frus man! Princess was quite good at it too but she was eating it more lady-like - taking bit by bit, dipping into the sugar and popping it into her mouth. They love this stuff and asked for a second piece but I stopped them cos it’s close to lunchtime!

10th Feb 2008 - Day 4

(credits & details here)

Today is Sunday and its dinner at my mom’s. In the afternoon, we had ‘bakkutteh’ (meat with herbs and spices soup) at a nearby shop before heading to Jusco Bukit Tinggi. We had ice-cream and donuts. Took snapshots of the kids sharing their ice-creams. They love chocolate ice-cream .. don’t all kids love chocolate! You ask them what ice-cream they want … its always chocolate!!

7th Feb 2008 - Day 1

(credits & details here)

Like last year and the all the rests of the years before that, we would visit my in-laws first, then to hubs uncle’s place, our friend TM’s house for lunch and lion dance, to my mom’s place and finally to my Aunty’s house in Cheras. Everyone would gather there for dinner and after dinner, mahjong and gambling session would start and end at midnight. Princess and Boy were dressed in a new pair of chinese costume every CNY. Princess wanted a toy lion head to play with. So, my mom actually bought one for her and when she finally got it, she doesn’t want anyone to put it on. She’s afraid. Sigh! Hopefully next year she’s ok.

8th Feb 2008 - Day 2

(credits & details here)

When we woke up in the morning it was close to noon. We decided to have brunch at Sushi King - the kids favourite eatery! Princess and Boy had their usual chawanmushi (steam egg) and ebikko sushi. Goodness! They can really eat when they get their hands on Japanese food. After our brunch, we headed to the temple in Kajang to visit Hubs Godfather (routine for 2nd day CNY). We left a little while later to take-away satays to my Aunty’s place in Cheras for another session of mahjong. The kids were so tired. I bathed them and we all slept while Daddy played mahjong. We went home again after midnight.

6th Feb 2008

We had the usual CNY eve lunch at my in-laws. Normally during the CNY eve, I would go home and do some cleaning but this time round, I was a bit lazy plus hubs have to go to a Kajang temple to visit his Godfather. Every year before CNY, he would go to the temple to visit his Godfather, its a routine thing. And at night we have reunion dinner at my mom’s.

The kids did some prayers in the temple and had a fun time running about ‘cos its really huge! By the time we reached my mom’s its almost dinner time. And we ate and ate .. its food fit for a whole village. My mom usually cook quite a lot during CNY eve ‘cos the whole family are gluttons and her cooking is absolutely yummy!

She’s been to school for the past two months. So far, I can say that she’s really enjoying herself - she’s done arts & craft, baking and computer classes .. one of the few of her favourite. School starts at 8am. Princess would get up at 6.30am and have her milk. Boy would take his milk at the same time too.  I’ve got to get up at 6am to prepare breakfast. The school provide breakfast at 8am and snack at 10 plus. Anyway, what does the school give? They would give simple food like cereal, biscuits, milo and milk. I’m afraid that its not enough for her, so everyday I would prepare something nutritious for her. I have made pancakes, chawanmushi, steam brocolli meat balls, pasta, porridge and so on. I’m beginning to run out of ideas. :)  Boy would also get a share of his breakfast too. When I dropped Princess off in school, he would eat it on the way to nursery.  Now that they have been waking up so early, on weekends they would wake up at 7 plus. And for me, when the kids go to bed at 9pm, I would be really sleepy. If I’m really lucky, I even get to sleep at the same time with them depending on how fast I can finish the chores at home. Sigh. Wonder when is hubs going to be back here permanently. Its like being a single parent .. tough!

The kids attended Alinda’s birthday party at the nursery. She’s Princess’s ‘group’ of friends at nursery. I dropped them and headed for breakfast. When I went to pick them at around 1pm, the party was almost over. I stayed on to see them play and we headed back home at around 2pm - just in time to see Daddy back home from Ipoh. The kids had their nap and when they woke up its almost dinner-time. We had dinner, came home, bathe, read books, slept and tomorrow is another day!

Its been more than a month since the last time I updated my blog. Have been busy during the CNY holidays - visiting houses, holiday at Genting and Malacca. I’ve got lots of backdated posts that I don’t even know where to start. Plus hubs is in England now - been more than a week. The kids have been asking when is he coming back almost everyday. He’ll be back tomorrow. This week passed-by real fast.

Ok .. let’s see. I’ll start on the Feb 1st Federal Territory Day - a few days before CNY.  Nursery was closed on that day. Hubs was still in Ipoh. So early morning, I fetched Princess to school together with Boy, went home prepare breakfast for him and did some house chores. Went to pick Princess from school and had a nice chicken rice lunch near LDP (forgotten the name of the coffee shop - famous for its Bentong chic rice). After lunch, we went over to Dinah’s place for a chat and bought these 2 really nice bags from her that the kids love so much. Its a good insulated bag to keep food warm. You can visit her at Great Expectations. Its great catching up with her - talking about good old days and motherhood. The kids had a great time playing and watching Peter Pan. They were so fascinated with the stand lamps until they kept pulling it on and off. We don’t have one at home you see - our place is an extremely baby-proof house! :P Now that they are not babies anymore, we should get one soon. In the evening, we went over to Cousin Barry’s place for dinner and stayed over.

antique restaurant

We had lunch at this restaurant near my sister’s place some many weeks ago. I like the decorations. It has old antique stuffs like fan, record player, a tricycle that looks like a scooter and many other stuffs. They even have those wooden door in the old days like those chinese kungfu movies. Couldn’t really describe it and I’ve forgotten to take a picture of that.  Really really cool decorations. My sis was raving so much about how good the food was. We all tried and it was double yucky. Restaurant decorations were good but can’t say so about its food. When we finished, we found out that the main cook was sick. Aw! Tough luck!

strummer boy

Everyone’s heard of drummer boy but strummer boy?? Hmm not likely. Anyway, I called him a strummer boy because he was holding this guitar and strumming the strings singing “Jingle Bells” at the top of his voice. Yea Christmas is over but he’s still singing to that tune. Lately, he’s showing interest in instruments like drums and guitars. So I was thinking of enrolling him in music classes later. I wonder what’s the appropriate age to start?!
